The Lake District

Blackpool is only an hours drive from the beautiful Lake District National Park, which provides a wealth of attractions and wonders for adults and children. The following features will be of particular interest

• World of Beatrix Potter - Discover Peter Rabbit in Mr McGregor's garden, meet Jemima Puddle-duck amongst the foxgloves and call on Mrs. Tiggy-winkle in her kitchen.
• Windermere Lake Cruises - A fleet of Steamers and launches sail daily throughout the year between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside.
• Holker Hall and Gardens & Lakeland Motor Museum - three great attractions in one.
• Ullswater Steamers - Regular summer services daily between Glenridding, Howtown and Pooley Bridge
• Rydal Mount & Gardens - William Wordsworth's most beloved home 1813-1850

Manchester & Liverpool

For those with an interest in shopping and urban culture, the two major regoinal cities of Manchester and Liverpool offer excellent shops, restaurants and cultural activities such as museums, art galleries and theatre.  Both are around an hours drive from Blackpool.

To the north, Preston also has excellent shops and facilities and is less than half an hour from Blackpool.
